  • Katie Rowland, President

    Katie Rowland is a Juntos program parent with students at San Miguel and Columbia. She believes that we can bring meaningful educational opportunities to all when we work together. Her professional background is primarily in ed tech and publishing, with experience in product management, marketing, and research. She has lived in Sunnyvale since 2013. Email

  • Geeta Gollakota, Vice President

    Geeta brings a strong background in Business Intelligence and Analytics, holding a Master’s in Information Systems. She is an Ellis Elementary parent who is passionate about education, child development, and community engagement. Geeta also serves as a Commissioner on Sunnyvale’s Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Commission. Email

  • Veronica Brand, Secretary

    Veronica Brand is a San Miguel Juntos Program Parent. She grew up in the Bay Area and has a Ph.D. in Environmental Engineering from Stanford University. She is an active member of the San Miguel PTA Board and has lived in Sunnyvale since 2016. Email

  • Kei Sato, Treasurer

    Kei has lived in Sunnyvale for over 25 years, and his kids attended Cherry Chase Elementary and Sunnyvale Middle School. Kei has been involved in school parent organizations, predominantly in Treasurer / Finance roles. Kei has worked in technology in a variety of operational, product management, and finance-related leadership roles for three decades. Email

  • Jessie Jarecki, VP of Communication

    Jessie moved back to Sunnyvale in 2022. She is the parent of a student who attended Vargas Elementary and is now at Cumberland Elementary and a student who attended Sunnyvale Middle School. She has a deep love for science and holds a PhD in Neuroscience. Since pausing her career as a biotechnology patent agent, she has become involved in advocating for students. Email

  • Cortney Jansen, VP of Programs

    Cortney is a San Miguel Juntos parent. Originally from Wisconsin, Cortney has lived in North Sunnyvale for the last 13 years. Her background is in music performance and biomedical engineering, and she is a technical program manager at Intuitive. Cortney is president of the San Miguel Elementary PTA. Email

  • Isabel Jubes-Flamerich, Board Representative

    Isabel is the mother of two teens who went to SSD and FUHSD. She immigrated ~25 years ago as co-founder of a start-up tech company. With a master’s degree in architecture and environmental design and other post graduate certifications, she continues to build her love for education, community service, and climate awareness. She is on the Sunnyvale School District Board and is part of many local and statewide boards for public education. Email

  • Gillian Cervero, Bishop Elementary Representative

    Gillian is a dedicated Bishop parent with a strong interest in children, health, and education, and advocating for all students, particularly those with special needs. She holds a degree in Psychology. A Bay Area native, she has lived in Sunnyvale for 10 years and brings over 25 years of experience in the nonprofit sector, with a background in both fundraising and grantmaking. She has served on several nonprofit boards. Email

  • Sanjay Kumar, Cherry Chase Elementary Representative

    Sanjay Kumar is a parent of two kids currently enrolled in Cherry Chase Elementary School. He is also currently the special needs chair at Cherry Chase. He has lived in the Bay Area since 2009 and has been working in Synopsys, Sunnyvale for over 16 years. He enjoys volunteering in classrooms, working with kids and trying to look at the world from their perspective. Email

  • Paola Deolaliker, Cumberland Elementary Representative

    Paola is a Cumberland parent and is involved in promoting inclusion and acceptance for neurodivergent kids and kids with disabilities. She is originally from Colombia, where she received a Bachelors in Political science, a Law degree, and Masters in Securities and Financial Law. She moved to the Bay Area in 2010 and currently owns a bakery business. Email

  • Nora Beamon, Ellis Elementary Representative

    Nora is an Ellis Elementary parent and a former middle and high school math teacher (including 3 years teaching in FUHSD). She grew up on the east coast and has lived in Sunnyvale for over 10 years. She is excited to support SEF’s goal of enriching education for every SSD student. Email

  • Leah Groppo, Fairwood Elementary Representative

    Leah is a Fairwood Explorer parent who has lived in Sunnyvale for more than three decades and cares deeply about the community. Seeing all the wonderful work that SEF does has motivated Leah to get involved. She has seen the funding make a variety of enriching education opportunities available to all students. Leah is a registered dietitian and diabetes educator who works at a local medical center in the endocrinology clinic. Email

  • Tammy Michels, Lakewood Elementary Representative

    Tammy is a former Lakewood parent and has been an active part of the Lakewood Community for more than 14 years. She is an Instructional Aide and Library Specialist at Lakewood supporting students, teachers and parents. She also serves on the Programs Committee. Over the past few years, Tammy has served as Treasurer for Lakewood PTA and Columbia Middle School PTSA. Email

  • Jenny Richardson, Sunnyvale Middle Representative

    Jenny is a Sunnyvale Middle School parent to two dynamic children. She has called Sunnyvale home for almost 15 years. Professionally, she works as a middle school speech language pathologist. She has been an active PTA member and the chair of several programs at Cumberland Elementary School. Within SEF, she also a member of the Programs Committee. Jenny is passionate about providing equitable education opportunities to all students in Sunnyvale. Email

  • Lisa McRae, Vargas Elementary Representative

    Lisa is originally from the UK and moved to Sunnyvale in 2012. She is the parent of a Vargas Elementary student and a Sunnyvale Middle student. Lisa is the President of the Vargas PTA and has served as a parent representative on the Vargas School Site Council. Her professional background is in biology research in academia and biotech. She was always interested in science outreach and education and worked for a local science education non-profit bringing hands-on science to 3rd through 8th grade students in the Bay Area. Email

  • Michelle Eugeni, Board Member at Large

    Michelle is a Sunnyvale native with more than twenty years experience in educational fields, including teaching, administration, research and program evaluation, educational publishing, and literacy tutoring. In her ten years as a parent volunteer at Cherry Chase and Sunnyvale Middle she has been involved in nearly every aspect of the parent and school volunteer community, including eight years on Cherry Chase PTA’s Executive Board. Michelle previously served as President of SEF and was one of the founders. Email

  • Susan Humphries Salop, Board Member at Large

    Susan is a former Sunnyvale Middle School, Ellis Elementary and Cherry Chase Elementary parent and has extensive non-profit volunteer and board experience in education. Susan has been a Sunnyvale resident since 2008 and has 20+ years of experience working in international business development and operations in Asia and Silicon Valley. She enjoys traveling, spending time outdoors and trying different restaurants in Sunnyvale. Email

  • Peggy Shen-Brewster, Board Member at Large

    Peggy has been a Sunnyvale resident for over 14 years. She taught 8th and 2nd grades in a neighboring school district and is grateful to have enrolled her children in Sunnyvale schools and become part of the Bishop Elementary School community. Peggy joined SEF because she is passionate about equity and closing opportunity, language, and learning gaps across the Sunnyvale School District. Peggy joined the Governing Board of the Sunnyvale School District in December 2024. Email

  • Shilpa Shikha, Board Member at Large

    Shilpa Shikha has been a Sunnyvale resident since 2022. She is a Bishop parent and enjoys being actively involved in supporting students, schools, and the local community. With over 14 years of professional experience in technology, Shilpa brings strong collaboration and problem-solving skills to her volunteer work. She has been involved in community and volunteer initiatives for many years and is passionate about supporting SEF’s mission to strengthen schools, support educators, and create enriching opportunities that help students learn, grow, and thrive.
